HIS 3337 Constitutional and Legal History of Medieval England
A survey of English constitutional and legal development from the Anglo-Saxon invasions to the beginning of the Tudor period. The emphasis is on the ways in which law reflects society and how societal needs determine the law. Special attention is given to the origin and development of two fundamental institutions: the Anglo-American judicial system and representative government.
