Surveys U.S. military history from the colonial period to the present including the American Revolution, War of 1812, U.S.-Mexican War, Civil War, Spanish-American War, World Wars I & II, Korean and Vietnam Wars, and the Gulf Wars. Additional topics include the development of a profession of arms, civil-military relations, warfare in the nuclear age, terrorism/counter-insurgency, and the impact of war upon American culture.
