PHI 8315 Aristotle
An advanced seminar on one or more texts (such as On the Soul, Metaphysics, or Nicomachean Ethics) or themes (such as the Aristotle's teleology or his concept of nature). Close reading of primary texts will be complemented by discussions of recent scholarly literature and of student research. There will be an emphasis on writing for publication and students will get to know the various scholarly
communities that read and write about Aristotle (and the history of philosophy more generally), with a view to refining their own scholarly aspirations.
