THE 6320 Prin Catholic Biblical Intrprt
This course seeks to provide a basic competency in the nature, methods and history of Catholic biblical interpretation. The course serves as a foundation for subsequent graduate-level studies in Scripture, providing a critical examination of exegetical traditions, their theological assumptions and implications. Taking Dei Verbum as a focal point, the course allows students to grasp not only the Church's fundamental understanding of herself in relation to the Scriptures, but also affords a broad historical overview of the interpretive tradition from apostolic to contemporary times.
