About the Concentration in Journalism
The Concentration in Journalism provides an opportunity for students to gain an understanding of the role of the media in American society and to receive instruction in the basic skills needed to perform adequately in the field. Publications, businesses and graduate schools seek liberal arts graduates with a background in the theory and practice of journalism.
The required curriculum includes four courses: Investigative Reporting and Feature Writing, Reporting, Ethics or an approved substitution, and Editing or Internship and one upper level journalism elective. The Internship consists of three registered sections of JRN 1109 Journalism Practicum.
