ECO 4335 Economic Development

Economics is the study of how and how well a human community provides for its  wants. However, human communities are faced with the reality of a scarcity of resources  in the face of unlimited human wants. A solution to the economic problem is complex  for individual nations, especially when they are engaged in the international marketplace. Although economic growth has been a concern of economics since the time of Adam  Smith, the subfield of economic development was formed after World War II. It is a  multidisciplinary field that takes into account not only the economic but also the political,  social, and cultural context in which people around the world experiencing poverty live and the factors that will improve their quality of life, and so requires input from history,  anthropology, sociology, political science, law, healthcare, engineering, education, and  business, to name a few.
