TMIN 6341 Saints: Their Lives and Iconography
This course examines the development of Catholic devotion to the saints and Mary, from the time of St. Peter up to the present day. A study of the lives of the saints, liturgical and extra-liturgical practices of devotion to the saints, and the iconography of the saints in the rich environs of Rome. Concludes with an examination of the current process of canonization, post-Vatican II visions of the sanctity of the laity, and recent saints added to the Catholic canon.
