The Office of Personal Career Development (OPCD)

The OPCD seeks to prepare students and graduates for achievement of success in their professional lives. We help students discern as they explore opportunities, experience as they grow their skills and make informed career-affecting decisions, and achieve their vocational goals.

Students can meet with our staff to gain direction in their search for opportunities beyond the classroom and to help them build relevance in their resume, CV and online presence. Additionally, the OPCD coordinates on-campus events in collaboration with academic units. OPCD utilizes the Handshake platform to connect students with employers and organizations seeking to recruit them for jobs and internships. Handshake also facilitates student appointments with OPCD staff.  Students can enroll in several courses taught by the OPCD where emphasis is placed on discernment, self-awareness, career planning, and concepts of personal, professional, and civic responsibility.

Courses offered: GST1106 Community Volunteer Services, 3V57 Internship, GST 1117 Career Development, GST1116 Major/Career Exploration.
