Academic Dismissal

Academic Dismissal

All students have the right to appeal a dismissal by submission of the online Form 180, Request for Appeal of Academic Dismissal found on the COB website. Such requests must be filed within seven (7) business days of the date of the dismissal notice.

Also recommended is a dated letter to the Dean that contains:

  • full name
  • explanation of academic performance (please note that valid reasons for an appeal are as follows: incorrect determination of academic dishonesty or application of academic dishonesty policy, barrier to access to course or course resources caused by the University, prohibited discriminatory treatment or disregard for due process by the instructor toward the student, violation of a published University policy)
  • attach supporting documentation, if necessary (only documentation submitted with this form will be accepted for the appeal; later submissions will not be accepted)

Students may be required to meet with the Dean or designee to further discuss the appeal. The student should make arrangements to attend the meeting, in-person or virtually, on the date specified by the Dean's office. The Dean may consult the Academic Review Board for further review and recommendation on a course of action. The Dean may either accept or reject the Boards recommendation. The COB Deans decision is final.

Please note that a student who has not been enrolled for three consecutive trimesters (or more), must first reapply through the Office of Admissions before being reinstated. Any balance owed to the University of Dallas must be paid in full before a request will be considered.

Students should address any questions to:
