BIO 3361 Epidemiology

Chronic, noncommunicable diseases are a driving force of death and disability across the globe. This course is designed to introduce students to the basic principles of epidemiology through a topical focus on chronic diseases and associated risk factors. For each chronic disease explored, we will examine the biological and social determinants of the condition, as well as explore philosophical, historical, political, and narrative dimensions of health and healthcare. Students will also learn how to interpret common statistical data calculated for epidemiological studies.
