EDU 5354 Language Acquisition / Linguistics

Language is central to everything and it, more than any other characteristic, distinguishes mankind from other living creatures. The nature of language, phonology, morphology and syntax, structural and transformational grammar, social variations and dialects of English and kinesics and proxemics are topics studied. This is a graduate level course, and graduate students will be expected to engage the material accordingly. This may include such things as a research paper, orchestrating the readings/discussion during class periods, making an oral presentation to the class, or other requirements.
