MSP 4301 Spanish Medieval History
A survey of Spanish history from the establishment of the Visigothic Monarchy through the reign of the Catholic Monarchs. Emphasis on the development of Spain’s national character and sense of purpose during the Reconquest. The cultural achievements of the thirteenth century, Aragon’s expansion throughout the lands of the Mediterranean in the late Middle Ages and the unification of the four Spanish kingdoms by Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabel I of Castile are also covered.
