ECO 4325 History of Economic Thought

This class explores the development of economic philosophy from ancient Greece to current developments in modern micro and macroeconomics. Emphasis will be placed on studying original texts of authors such as Aristotle, Aquinas, Smith, Ricardo, Marx, Keynes, and Hayek among others. By analyzing economic texts and authors in their contemporary social, political, and economic contexts, the class explores how real economic and philosophical currents influence inquiry and innovation in economic science and practice.
